Boxing Legend George Foreman Passes Away at 76
An announcement from the official website of the Olympic Games quoted from a post on Instagram by Foreman’s family members, saying “Our hearts are broken. With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., who departed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 21, 2025.”
“BIG GEORGE”
Known as “Big George,” the heavyweight boxer won a gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. In 1973, he claimed the world heavyweight boxing title by knocking out the then-undefeated Joe Frazier in the second round but suffered his first professional loss to Muhammad Ali in 1974.
During his professional career until his retirement at the age of 48 in 1997, George Foreman experienced 76 wins (68 by knockout) and 5 losses.
